March 7, 2024 –  Seasonal Recreation Update

Shoreline fishing will be available beginning March 8.  No watercraft will be allowed at this time.  Reservations are required – click here to reserve your spot!

Rules and regulations for fishing include:

Rueter-Hess is still closed for paddle sports, but remains open for land-based activities within the guidelines of the Rules and Regulations. If you plan to visit by car to hike, picnic or view wildlife, please reserve a parking spot by clicking here.

 

Nestled in the sandstone-rimmed bluffs and Gamble Oak valleys of northeastern Douglas County, Rueter-Hess Reservoir beckons history buffs, day hikers, dog walkers, water-sport enthusiasts, and local anthropologists alike. 

With that in mind, we recommend booking just one day in advance and signing up for email updates.

Water Recreation/Fishing
Water Recreation and Paddle Sports are closed for the season.

Summer/Fall hours – open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays through Nov. 9.

Winter hours – beginning Nov. 10 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

    Parking day passes are required. Click here to make your reservation.  

Incline Hours:
One hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset, seven days a week
No reservations are required.

Recreation activities at Rueter-Hess Reservoir are managed by the Rueter-Hess Recreation Authority, a six-member regional collaboration charged with planning recreation activities at the reservoir.  Click here for more information.
